Critical Psychiatry Movement Leader - Robert Whitaker

Dear friend,

I would like to introduce you to some of the influential leaders in the critical psychiatry movement.

These are people I came across in my research while wondering through the barren deserts of psychiatry for almost two decades. They confirmed what I already knew in my bones about the state of affairs in psychiatry.

I wasn’t a researcher or scientist but someone who was in the trenches and learned by observation. I suppose you could call that a sort of research. It’s a front row seat to the internal workings of an industry that thrives on medicalizing human suffering.

I was fortunate to come across this information…

It was validating to realize that I’m not the only person questioning my profession and becoming disillusioned over time.

How could you not when you see kids and adults alike languishing in the system and used as Guinea pigs for drugs that leave them feeling like zombies.

What I witnessed was a majority of people getting worse with time. The whole process of going through “the mental health system” is traumatic and often dehumanizing. People lose their sense of self, their dignity, and humanity.

Witnessing that over and over can make one very cynical and for a good reason…

Below you’ll find a fantastic interview of Robert Whitaker who is the author of Anatomy of an Epidemic and Mad in America. He’s an award-winning science and history investigative medical journalist who speaks about psychiatry and pharmaceutical industry.

In this video, Robert outlines why long term use of psychiatric drugs do more harm than good. He also sites numerous long term clinical studies that confirm this finding.

Moving forward I will send an email of some of the prominent leaders in the critical psychiatry movement that are attempting to change the industry. I think it’s so important these leaders are speaking out because it gives others permission to do the same.

It takes courage to speak up and it also takes courage to listen.

Please forward this information with anyone who you believe would benefit.

Feel free to leave me your questions, comments, and feedback below. Thank you for taking the time to visit here.

Until next time, we continue in solidarity.
